It feels so good to eat food like this. Except salt and pepper, everything in this soup was grown by us. Carrots, onions, potato, thyme, chicken and broth.4yr ⋅ applesweaters ⋅ r/homestead

Duck soup is the natural aftermath of an amazing, perfectly roasted duck. Onion, carrot, garlic, cayenne, lemon, chive vinegar in this pot. I grew all of this-except the lemon. Every year after the duck slaughter I say no more ducks. Then I eat one and remember it really is worth the hassle.3yr ⋅ applesweaters ⋅ r/homestead

Ibis. You were brutal, mighty ram. You stunk like hell & handled the ewes. You liked drinking a beer w Evan now & then. You rammed us several times, false charged us more than I can count, walked through an electric fence or two. You introduced fine wool & depth to our flock. Thank you. So long.3yr ⋅ applesweaters ⋅ r/homestead
Butchered 4 cockerels and 5 old hens the other day. Making room for new pullets in the Coop. The hens had the most beautiful layer of golden fat! I made a pot of soup already and it is the best damn soup ever. Nothing like an old stewing bird. Thank you ladies for your service.3yr ⋅ applesweaters ⋅ r/homestead

I finally spun, plied, and finished my first ever skein. Approx 101 yards of 3-ply natural Shetland... from our flock leader, and one of my bffs, Janis! It’s soft, and warm, and I love it despite its flaws1yr ⋅ applesweaters ⋅ r/Handspinning
And then she wrote a story promising her “research” is backed up and linked a study with Fauci as a co-author that doesn’t once mention masks as “proof” that masks cause bacterial pneumonia. Our doe kindled the other day and I noticed her kits were getting cold rapidly. This one especially -- the runt. I brought them all into the house to warm them up and they are all thriving days later!3yr ⋅ applesweaters ⋅ r/homestead

Garlic bulbils from last year's harvest. We grow hardneck garlic and leave the scapes on a few - when the scapes stand up straight, we know the garlic is ready to harvest. The bulbils are true seed garlic and take several years of growth before reaching a harvestable size.4yr ⋅ applesweaters ⋅ r/homestead
