Late 1940s or early 1950s West Virginia. My grandfather, an exhausted coal miner, would sleep a bit in the floor when he came home so as to not dirty the bed linens. He placed a towel on the pillow to keep from ruining it. Always an avid reader and smoker, note the newspaper and cigarettes.

My very first “expensive” knife way back in 2002 was a Spyderco Endura. My best friend was graduating from the State Police Academy and so I bought him one as a gift at the same time. I gave him the straight edge and kept the full serrated one. What was your first Spyderco or “expensive” knife?

Sold one house and bought a new one! Finally getting settled in and started unpacking my Hi-Fi. Acoustics are great in the new space! Ignore chairlift on lower left, came with the house.

What was your first Benchmade knife? For me, it was this 350 Mel Pardue from probably around 2003. It was carried daily for many years and to this day remains the hardest to sharpen knife I think I own because of the spear point!

Bought myself a little something today. I have wanted one of these for about 20 years and finally decided to just buy one. North American Arms Mini Revolver in .22 magnum. I’ll have to send it to UT in the near future to have a .22 Long Rifle cylinder fitted.

harman/kardon 730. I own several amps/receivers but this one is special. To me, it just sounds fantastic. Amazing separation! Paired with my JBL l100 speakers and always blows me away! I just couldn’t ever part with this one. Anyone else have that one special piece in their collection to share?

Sony TC-730 that I picked up yesterday from the original owner’s son. Keeper for me! Sounds great and is a real looker too. Controls need some Deox-it and a new counter belt but otherwise it is sounding and working great! The heads look fantastic as well.

My buddy picked me up two decks yesterday and I’m pretty excited to, at almost 40, own a Nakamichi. It’s not the Dragon but I’m very thankful and excited to have these. My friend is 62 years old and truly a great guy. I know the dust over is missing and belts will be needed! Anything else to expect?

Free pick up over the weekend. Optimus SCT-86. Very compact unit, banana for scale. Radio Shack brand from the 1990s/2000s. Also bonus blanks. Left channel was very weak but it was an easy fix. No lights on the left channel unfortunately but the sound is clear and even so it’ll do for now.

Follow up post to my Harman Kardon 730 post. I got it after a fair negotiation. I need to replace the dial lamp (easy) but when I turn it on after it’s been off awhile there is a staticky roar in the left channel that fades out in a few seconds and does not return. Thanks for the input on this one!
