opening day 1955... the yankees played at the original yankee stadium, the dodgers were in brooklyn and the giants were in the polo grounds. the mets were still years away. if you had to drive to get to yankee stadium...it would have cost you all of $1.00 to park. people complained about it too.

halloween 1987... a friend had heard that bruce + band might show up at tim mcloone's rum runner (NJ), so he immediately snuck into the show. bruce and the band (no nils or clarence) showed up in all black with masks on. none knew who they were until they jumped on stage replacing the house band.

2/13/2024...i went to a local bar to see the immediate family. they're the back up band/session players for so many musicians. i went by myself and was supposed to meet my friends who never showed up. instead this guy came and stood next to me with his nephew(?) the entire night. great trade off!

the no nukes show sept 21/23 1979. found the 1st photo on a library website. couldn't believe the caption above the pic. i emailed the head of the library, told him who the unidentified man was. he said his interns were young college kids and had had no clue who bruce was. it's corrected now.

  • 60 years ago today...the one nyc beatles concert i couldn't go to. it was a charity event and the tickets were $100. probably what my dad earned in a week at that time. my friend got to go though. naturally because i wasn't with her, she wound up on the cover of the daily news.

jan 9 1980...bruce springsteen showed up to give a young new jersey group called atlantic city expressway a boost at their show at the fast lane in asbury park, nj. you'll recognize it's lead singer. he went on to much larger success. photos by pat celi who was a huge fan of both and was there.

in 1977, i was only made it to 4 of these 6 shows (work life interfered with my music life) that jacskon played at the universal outdoor amphitheater (long gone now). but here's the program that came with that show on the running on empty tour....they played 6 nights in a row. the coke years.

10/27/1975... 49 years since these 2 covers hit the news stands on the same day. i framed mine in this cheap frame (hence the horrific fading) along with a few tix that didn't get thrown out by my mom when she purged all of my rock memorabilia in one of her cleaning frenzies.
