Our blood pressure monitor uses 4 AAAs (and it burns through them quickly). Could also use it via mains, but then we're tethered to the wall. So I decided to snip the power cord from the AC adaptor (6V) then connected it to a USB cable (5V). It's still accurate.Aug 2022 ⋅ CompUser01 ⋅ r/techsupportmacgyver ⋅ #and-it-burns-through-them-quickly #6V #5V
This pressure washer (runs at 12 volts) uses the same plug as a rice cooker or a desktop computer (typically runs on 100-240 volts). It's just a matter of time before someone accidentally plugs it directly to the outlet, if they lose the adapter.Jun 2022 ⋅ CompUser01 ⋅ r/techsupportgore ⋅ #runs-at-12-volts #typically-runs-on-100-240-volts

Needed to test an Asus laptop with a dead charger. Didn't feel like spending $20 on a replacement. Happened to have a working HP charger and a broken HP laptop. Harvested the DC jack from the laptop, snipped the cord from the dead charger. Then made an adapter out of them.Jun 2021 ⋅ CompUser01 ⋅ r/techsupportmacgyver ⋅ #20

WE'VE COME FULL CIRCLE!Jun 2021 ⋅ CompUser01 ⋅ r/CasualPH ⋅ #16

Every and then, I get some broken or obsolete gadgets from relatives. One of my newest acquisition is this cool Cherry Mobile phone that you can watch live TV on, without an internet connection.
