Planning to change from iMac Pro 2017 64gb ram to Mac Mini m2 16Gb ram. Is it really an upgrade? Or better stick to my iMac Pro?

Question about not having administrator rights: I'm getting soon a borrowed i7 iMac from my job for remote work from home. Those iMacs are set up by the IT guy so I don't have admin rights. Is there a way I can have my own admin rights (dualboot?) in order to have my own space for personal stuff?
