Update: Console is cleaned with fresh MX-4 Thermal paste installed, Blu-ray drive was opened and cleaned then I re-lubricated all the gears then cleaned the lens and finished with the power supply which was given a light clean with a bone dry brush, I think it turned out well

Yo guys. This was extremely easy. Just take your time. Heat gun directly to gpu and lightly pry with plastic tool pops it right off. Ifixit metal pry too for cutting GPU.

Picked up this 60gb in a lot of junk. Are those two chips replaceable? I'd try my hand at some surface mounted chip work. The PS3 DOES turn on and work normal however fan gradually goes full blast.

Posted my temp results earlier after a simple clean and repaste. Thought I'd post GTA-V running for an hour at 30% fan. CECH-2001A does NOT require a de-lid under just about any circumstance. Don't risk killing your console because of bad advice.
