Herbert Hoover is the only President to meet with Hitler. Their meeting took place in March, 1938. In his conversation with Hitler, Hoover spoke up for personal liberty. Hitler replied that Germany, unlike resource-rich America, could not afford such liberties. Back home, Hoover denounced the Nazis.
In Brittany, the box bed was a popular piece of furniture and present in other European countries as well. In homes with only one room, the bed allowed for privacy and helped with keeping warm in the winter. Due to fashion and the cost, box beds were gradually abandoned in the 19th & 20th centuries.
