[I made] inarizushi
6/16/2018 - 2/27/2019 - first one took me over 2 hours... Second is after 99 heads over 13 days and took me about 20 minutes. Onwards!
My Process: Cook dinner, draw dinner. Still working on trying to add shine/transparency to foods to make them look more appetizing and appealing
Weekend project: 7 Billy bookcases (5 full, 2 halves) with Oxberg doors to line our bedroom wall. Since it could barely fit our ceiling height, we used QuakeHOLD straps to keep them to the walls (important living in California!)
Looking for some feedback on organic perspectives. I'm so frustrated after the first set - it should just be boxes, but somehow I'm making them non-box shaped?! Are my initial Y structures wrong or my second or third set of lines...?
Focusing on pose rather than details, do the poses and shapes come across?
Snoot booped my camera! (Ink before I add color pencil)
Trying out rough sketching with color. Here's a rendition of my favorite photo we've taken of Mammoth Lakes
Day 21: Drain
Day 20: Breakable
That's one cranky partridge...
Watched a do's/don'ts video last night after finishing and realized I did a majority of the don'ts. Took some of the tips from the do's. Wish I took a couple more progress shots, but big difference this time was blending with a tissue paper and building layers of graphite vs shading my planes
Accidentally took a cool photo of red winged blackbirds
100 Heads Challenge, Day 4, ~3 hours, 7 heads... 24 down, 76 to go. Tonight was fast and rough compared to the last 3. Starting to look like faces, but proportions aren't great and all are MILES away from their reference photos... I'm missing SOMETHING...
First ink face... Oh geez, it's like starting from scratch! No where to hide - no blending, every insecure line is amplified. Starting drawabox soon and goal is to gain fundamentals and confidence...
One dog drawing, one year difference
Watched wife play all of rdr and rdr2... Was banned after accidentally shooting (but not killing) a horse... Can't wait til I get a chance to play!
[OC] Homemade Spaghetti and Meatballs (tomato red wine sauce sweetened with carrot, onion, celery; 60/40 pork/beef meatballs with fennel, oregano, basil)
100 Heads Challenge, Day 9, ~2.5 hours, 12 heads... 69 down, 31 to go. Getting much faster for the initial lay in and finishing most in 10-15min. Still need to figure out feature fitting, but faces are starting to look more similar to the references. Learning a ton and a lot more learn!
100 Heads Challenge, Day 12, ~2 hours, 7 heads... 92 down, 8 to go. Final stretch... Still a lot of variability between horrible and acceptable. Most still look really flat, but most also look like faces now. Last ones I'll continue focus on facial feature fitting contours...
Wife is replaying rdr2 and I'm trying to be here live journal. She actually got the bear early game with just a rifle and her knife without getting killed once. Color me impressed...
Finished my second sketchbook of the year! A bit over a year of drawing and loving it so much =)
100 Heads Challenge, Day 11, ~2 hours, 7 heads... 85 down, 15 to go. Switched to 4B from 2B (partly cause my 2B is almost dead, partly because I wanted to try darker shadows). Reference heads got really weird... Made fitting features even more difficult for me
I is for iguana
Four iterations since I've started drawing, showing signs of improvement, long ways to go! Clockwise from top left: 8/20/17, 1/14/18, 6/7/18, 11/30/18
100 Heads Challenge, Day 7, ~2.25 hours, 9 heads... Half way there. Tonight was about speed (started late) and planes (Loomis + plane outlines). I need to start modifying more to fit... Most don't fit perfect thirds. Still need to figure out 3D features to fit the face shape...
Inktober Day 21: Drain
[OC] Smoked salmon - not pretty to look at, but tastes great - cured for 5 hours in mix of vodka, brown sugar, salt and pepper, smoked 30 minutes in Alder wood, and another 45 minutes at 225F on the Traeger
Anyone know how to do coloring with markers without streaks? Didnt realize it would come out like this til I finished...
Trying out a brush pen! Hope I learn better control of these inks in the coming month!
Gertrude has the right idea...
11 months into my self taught drawing journey! Tried to push the realism using darker values for shadows to show he's sinking into the blankets! What else can I do?
Inktober Day 2: Tranquil
Finished a race and drew the logo. Respect to the original artist! This was HARD to do!
100 Heads Challenge, Day 8, ~2 hours spread over 3 sessions, 7 heads... 57 down, 43 to go. Getting a better feel for how to use and modify the Loomis head model. Focused on sectioning head into planes to better understand where to shade... Still having trouble fitting facial features.
Calling all birbs!
Still learning to draw faces... Any tips on what i can do to make this more realistic? Something still looks off...
Dogvember: Tater Tot for r/redditgetsdrawn
Learning how to draw from scratch having never drawn seiously in my life. Left to right is progress over 10 months - first ever drawing, a few months after, and just a week ago. Welcome to feedback - how can I continue to improve?
Tried to draw Captain Picard today!
E is for Elephant - what else can i do to bring out more character and depth?
A few favorites from our birding trip to Sacramento NWR. Can you name them all?
Esther the Wonder Pig!
H is for hedgehog
