I was told to post this here because it's an interesting tool. I built a French cleat digital sandpaper sorter that organizes my sanding pads. I didn't want to have written labels so I used cheap decade counters to denote the grit of each shelf of sanding pads. Build video in comments!11mo ⋅ AtomicDairy ⋅ r/toolporn
I tore the sheet rock off of an unusable wall and built shelves between the studs. Things turned out much better than expected and now we can store 100+ cans in what used to be a boring wall. And now we have to buy more cans... [Description video in the comments.]4yr ⋅ AtomicDairy ⋅ r/DiWHYNOT
We took stained glass sidelights and mounted them in hinged wooden frames. Now we can open the stained glass windows whenever we want to see outside. Hopefully the HOA won't have a problem with our new blue windows. Build link in the comments.4yr ⋅ AtomicDairy ⋅ r/DiWHYNOT
We built a dining room table that has a two-sided removable top and lower deck that we use to build puzzles. Now we can leave unfinished puzzles in place and still use the table. Two different tops can change to match the mood of whatever type of dinner we are hosting. Build video in comments.4yr ⋅ AtomicDairy ⋅ r/somethingimade
I connected two emergency lights to my garage door opener that activate whenever the garage door is opening or closing. Now whenever we come home we have a light show to welcome us. Project link in comments.4yr ⋅ AtomicDairy ⋅ r/DiWHYNOT
We built recessed shelves between the wall studs in an unusable pantry wall. The shelves use the free space between the wall studs and take up zero space, and they have the capacity to hold more than 100 cans. This simple project turned out way cooler than I was expecting! Specialized electronic tool here. I built an Arduino-controlled device that automatically turns on my wood shop air filtration system whenever it hears a saw run. It then turns the system off 2 hours later, totally automating my dust collection. Build/demo link in the comments.4yr ⋅ AtomicDairy ⋅ r/Tools
We built falling shelves over the toilet in our guest bathroom to show off our tourist souvenirs. We thought regular shelves would be boring so we went for a more dangerous design where everything is falling down. It looks great and was cheap and easy to build. We built a mini flip table for our grinder and scroll saw. It's short because we intend to use it when sitting on a stool. The wheels let us store it out of the way and move it wherever we need it.3yr ⋅ AtomicDairy ⋅ r/toolporn
We built a parcel delivery box and paired it with an Arduino delivery status display that is hidden in a picture frame. When packages are delivered the eyes in the photo all illuminate with LEDs, among other things. It turned out to be kind of creepy and we love it! I took a simple voltmeter clock kit and built an old-fashioned box for it to make it look like an antique. It turned out great and it's surprisingly easy to read the time on the voltmeters. It looks like an antique but I may replace the plastic gauges with older ones to make it look older.3yr ⋅ AtomicDairy ⋅ r/diyelectronics
I have French cleat walls all around my shop and made super simple French cleat holders for my Ryobi and DeWalt oscillating tools. They hold the tool and attachments so everything is in one place and I can move it anywhere I want. Short build video in the comments.1yr ⋅ AtomicDairy ⋅ r/BeginnerWoodWorking

I built a ruler/level/gauge holder from scraps that holds 18 measuring devices in 14-inches of wall space. I also arranged the tools so that you can grab them and use them the way you hold them instead of just hanging them sideways. Works great and now I don't lose my speed squares as often.1yr ⋅ AtomicDairy ⋅ r/FrenchCleat
I'm lazy so I built a device that turns my air filter fan on in the wood shop whenever it hears a saw running. Then it turns the filter fan off two hours later. So now I just go out and do woodworking and the air filter takes care of things by itself. Build/demo link in the comments.4yr ⋅ AtomicDairy ⋅ r/DiWHYNOT
We built an oak desk and put a phone charger, WiFi router, weather radio, shredder, mail alert, and a LOT more into the frame. This just shows how much you can do when you put electronics into your furniture projects, and how crazy useful your furniture projects can be. We built an antique safe and packed it with tricks. It plugs into a floor outlet and has 110v/USB ports on the back, the lamp cord goes straight down through the top and plugs in inside, and an inductive cell phone charger coil is embedded in the surface.4yr ⋅ AtomicDairy ⋅ r/BeginnerWoodWorking
We needed cheap task lighting for the drill press so we used USB laptop reading lights and a phone charger to do the job. Now we have flexible lights that give us really great lighting that can be moved around to support any job. Walkthrough video link in the comments.4yr ⋅ AtomicDairy ⋅ r/BeginnerWoodWorking
I made a bedside table out of scraps and wired it with LEDs that illuminate the floor when you open the drawer. I also put a hidden power receptacle on the back to power a phone charger and lamp. We made a 6.5hp shop vac cart out of scraps that has a dust separator to preserve the filter, noise shroud to make it quieter, and a tray to carry cleaning supplies. Build link in the comments.4yr ⋅ AtomicDairy ⋅ r/somethingimade
We made giant stained glass sidelights for our front door and hinged them so we can open them whenever we want to see outside. We no longer need sidelight curtains for privacy. They look great and experience subtle color changes as the light during the day fades away. [Build video in comments]4yr ⋅ AtomicDairy ⋅ r/somethingimade
We cut our cable cord and built a giant triple digital TV antenna using 2x4 scraps and $8 in electronic parts. It is on a pivot mount in the attic and gives us DVD-quality local TV broadcasts. It actually works REALLY WELL! Build link in comments.4yr ⋅ AtomicDairy ⋅ r/maker

A very simple 2x4 workbench that does a lot in a small shop. Our wheeled fold-down workbench drops out of the way when not in use, folds up when needed, and can be detached from the wall to move around the shop on wheels. How to video in the comments.3yr ⋅ AtomicDairy ⋅ r/BeginnerWoodWorking
I built a new cordless drill holder to improve on my old one. It's a simple build but it has already made working in the shop a lot nicer, since I no longer have to wonder where my drill stuff is in the middle of a project. Just wanted to share. We built a steampunk end table out of iron pipe and wood that stores and powers two laptops.
