Went to top off the sugar water and say hello to everyone this morning, and found the hive abandoned. My heart broke straight in half. Rest in peace, your royal highness. 👑6mo ⋅ doughnutdiva ⋅ r/Beekeeping
According to European folklore, a beekeeper must tell their bees about the important events happening in their lives. The bees should also be invited to weddings and funerals, or calamity would befall their keeper.11mo ⋅ Grave_Warden ⋅ r/Beekeeping

I asked my very soon to be wife, if she was going to hang out outside while I inspected, if she could take notes while i relayed them to her. I went back to check them to see if I forgot something. Unexpected wildfire hit our property yesterday. Bees somehow survived! The winds shifted big time and caused the fire to come our way. We had little time to evacuate. Lost two buildings but house is fine. I put gravel around the base to prevent weeds & I guess it prevented them from being burned.1yr ⋅ StatusShare5 ⋅ r/Beekeeping

This is Dave. Dave lost around 200 hives in a fire here in Western Australia. I was lucky enough to volunteer with him for a couple of weeks as he tries to rebuild - building boxes, transferring nucs and collecting pollen from his remaining hives with him.
